We all have them…. Wait. Don’t we? Books you pick up and put down, and then pick up again. Trying to find something more than you found the first twelve times you went to your nightstand for something to read? I do this, and now, I have a stack of books I am trying to read. Should I just call it quits? I want too, but somehow I want to get through them. Plus.. There has to be good parts I have not read. And yet, sometimes even good sex scenes are not worth what it would take to keep reading.
Liz Carlyle’s Wicked All Day~
Robin!!! Zoe!!! Stuart!!! Agh!! Frustration,Frustration,Frustration! Maria!! Zoe!! Stuart!! Robin!!! Deep breath! These kids need to get out of the house once in a while.
Zoe is spoiled and annoying. she even looks spoiled on the cover. Robin well.. Robin.. If you love Maria..Why were you putting your fingers in Zoe’s pie? Or close to her goods at least. Does he really love Maria? I am doubting him as the story goes on. I think he is a little flamboyant. Maybe he needs to reconsider what he really wants. Maybe this will all be resolved. I am hoping it does work out so as everyone is happy. I think Robin might want something less feminine. ‘And that is okay’. I hope the author sees what appears clear to me.
Stuart, what is up with you? If you like Zoe, why do you try so hard to not? Zoe… Just stop! Maria… Get away from Robin. He is not exactly a stable or monogamous man. If he can’t keep it in his pants now.. what kind of future does that hold for you? I am only on page 77. I just don’t know if I should continue.
Here is a blurb from Goodreads:
Miss Zoë Armstrong is beautiful, charming, rich — and utterly unmarriageable. So, while she may be the ton‘s most sparkling diamond, her choice of husbands looks more like a list of London’s most unsavory fortune hunters. Since a true-love marriage seems impossible, Zoë has accepted — no, embraced— her role as society’s most incomparable flirt and mischiefmaker … until in one reckless, vulnerable moment, her future is shattered.
Stuart Rowland, the brooding Marquess of Mercer, has been part of Zoë’s extended family since she was a child. As dark and cynical as Zoë is lively, Mercer has always known they would be the worst possible match … until his scapegrace brother Robert does the unthinkable, and winds up betrothed to Zoë. Now, secluded on Mercer’s vast estate to escape a looming scandal and the ton‘s prying eyes, Zoë and Mercer may find that a dark obsession has become a tempestuous passion that can no longer be denied ..
And then I also have: Irresistible From Karen Robards
Here is the Goodreads blurb:
Claire Banning fulfilled every debutante’s dream when she married a rich nobleman. Soon, however, the celebrated beauty realizes she wed a dissolute wastrel. Bitterly hurt and desperately lonely, Claire vows nonetheless to take her expected place in society. Then, on a journey home to her husband’s estate on the coast of Sussex, she is abducted, and her life—and her heart—are changed forever.
Hugh Battancourt—a dark and dangerous nobleman who long ago turned his back on the ton and now leads a life secretly dedicated to his country’s service—is determined not to be swayed by his prisoner’s beauty as they share a cabin on a ship bound for France. Lives depend on his retrieving from her a letter full of secrets she intends to turn over to the enemy. But even as Claire and Hugh engage in a battle of wits and wills, captor and captive find themselves drawn irresistibly to each other. Is it possible, Claire wonders, that she could discover the true meaning of love that has eluded her with this handsome stranger? One who will lay his life on the line in order to protect her from someone who is intent on placing Claire in the path of danger?
I am on page 93… As Jacqueline said on Goodreads “The whole thing was just too improbable and contrived.” It sits on my table and I stare at it , a lot. Does not seem to change the fact that I just have no interest in picking the darn thing back up again.
Then there is … The Lady Chosen by Stephanie Laurens
Blurb: Tristan Wemyss, Earl of Trentham, never expected he’d need to wed within a year or forfeit his inheritance. But he is not one to bow to the matchmaking mamas of the ton. No, he will marry a lady of his own choosing. And the lady he chooses is the enchanting neighbor living with her family next door. Miss Leonora Carling has beauty, spirit and passion; unfortunately, matrimony is the last thing on her mind . . .
To Leonora, Tristan’s kisses are oh-so-tempting, but once bitten, forever shy, she has determinedly turned her back on marriage. But Tristan is a seasoned campaigner who will not accept defeat. And when a mysterious man attempts to scare Leonora and her family from their home, Tristan realizes he’s been given the perfect excuse to offer his services—as protector, seducer and, ultimately, husband.
* I love the name Tristan. That had me at go. The story was interesting. I even like the characters. Why can’t I get through the book ? I wish I knew. I am on page 104. I keep getting bored. It is interesting. I like it… Maybe I am missing something. It has been two weeks. I think it was just drawn out in such a winded way that I couldn’t take it. Or was it the pages of family blah that seem to irk me so? I will keep this one in check and keep trying to get through it. I want badly to like it.
All of these books started out fantastic. It might be me. You need to read them and see what you think. I would love another opinion. It is just me here.. looking at the hot guy below, and I really need you to help me decide what I should do. Or… I could just stare at the picture for a while longer…
You are welcome.
