As much as I would like to tell everyone that I am an English professor, or maybe even a doctor, a lawyer or even an Indian chief;  the fact is simple. I am none of those things, and my English is pretty broken when I go on a rant. But, I love to read. I have written many, many books, but I have yet to actually finish one. Not one. I write, I get caught up, I jump up and down with the ideas as they flood my head and make me crazy, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, I cannot finish. I think it must be a psychological screw that is loose in my ADD brain. Or, maybe i don’t have ADD, maybe I am not dyslexic. Maybe I am just lazy like my teachers told my parents all through school.

What ever the cause, I have a respect for anyone who has done it. Has gotten the story down, and has edited till their skin turns blue. I have an enormous collection of books. I am a hunter gatherer. I am also a consumer. One of the ones who walks around with book on their kindles and paperbacks in their bags. The ones that buy the books, one of the ones who love a damn good story and will recommend the ones I love the most. I want the satisfaction of a good read.  So here I sit. And If they want to give me a sticker that says I am a professional reader, well, who am I to say no?

What I can say is that I have been in the communications field for sixteen years, then said FU and left.  There is only so many voices I can tolerate in my head, and then I have to say goodbye. I chose a small town in a remote part of the country to try to bring my brain back. I have several online habits that I call jobs to help pay the bills. I own my own online fabric and crafts shop, working towards our fifteenth year.  I also own a used bookshop that works through Amazon, and also together with my husband we run an online record store. All of these things do not pay the bills to an overall satisfied existence, but I have been able to raise my only son, and give him my time and energy to make his life and ours as a family better.

Besides the little blog I set up to work on sewing machines, this is my first try at a real blog.

  1. Awesome blog. Yes, it’s hard to actually finish a novel…but hang in there you will someday. I find it helpful to write the last chapter first, then you know where you are going. Of course you need to have your characters and plot pretty well established in your head or on paper!

    • I would love to do that!!! If only I knew where the darn thing was leading.:) Thank you very much for the compliment. I think I need to work on why the MC’s in the story like each other, I think that would swing me in the right direction. Just because I know… does not mean the reader knows. 🙂

  2. Hello, thanks for the follow! You’ve led such a rich and varied life!!
I’m a voracious reader too!! One of the best things in the world!!
You’ll do it! When the timing is right, it will all come together, and you’ll sit down, and get that novel done. Then, that will encourage you, and you’ll finish more! I’m sure of it!

  3. Lovely to connect with you :). Your ‘about’ section makes for interesting reading:). I hope you get to finish at least one book one day, and i’m sure you will (my English skills are awful all the time….but that’s what editors are for!)

    • Editors always make me do so much work! Lol I have worked with one on a FanFic book I was working on, (never finished, but published on the FF website) And OMG so much work.. When you pour your heart out and then someone says… no..that whole chapter is just wrong, it takes a lot out of you. lol As for interesting reading, I get kind of snarky when I post. Even in my about. I have no idea what I wrote. I am afraid to go back and look. ha ha

  4. I say, you’re off to a good start! Love the title and tagline. As for finishing a book – oh, can I relate! But, based on your introduction – I think you’re a wonderful writer! Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the world. Thanks for following and welcome to the fence jumpers! @sheilamgood at Cow Pasture Chronicles

  8. I am sure if we ever met we would get on like a house on fire, or something like that. I don’t have room for my Kindle in my bag,, because the camera takes up all the spare room. Perhaps I should get a bigger bag. 🙂

  9. Thanks so much for following Oh, the Places We See. Judging from your About page, you are someone who knows yourself quite well. We all have strengths and needs for improvement. It’s just finding what to do with each that is tricky. Best wishes for many great posts to come!
